Coaching accreditation

Netball Australia has developed a new-look coaching accreditation scheme, replacing the 3-tier coaching pathway with a 6 step pathway that will make it easier for coaches to work through the various coaching levels. The Netball Australia website provides a full explanation of the revised coach education scheme.

Foundation accreditation

The first level of the coaching accreditation scheme is the Foundation level. This course is designed to enhance the knowledge of coaches who are coaching at Club level.

To gain this accreditation takes 2 steps:

Step 1 of the scheme is the Beginning Coaching General Principles course which can be completed online. To access this course go to the Beginning Coaching General Principles page of the Australian Sports Commission's website.

Step 2 requires attending the Foundation Coaching Course which is a face-to-face course run by Netball NSW.

A Foundation Coaching Course is scheduled for Sunday 4 March 2012..

Enquiries should be directed to Tracey Connolly on 0403 187 693.

Development accreditation

The next level is Development. This course is designed to enhance the knowledge of coaches who are coaching at Club, Association and Regional level. The prerequisites for this course include:

  • holding a Foundation accreditation for 12 months
  • being at least 15 years of age
  • having a current umpires theory pass (see Umpires section).

There is a Development course will be conducted later in 2012.
